Dear Friends, dear Colleagues,

Welcome to Subotica and Palic, to the 15th International Scientific Meeting SM 2010 – STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT AND DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS IN STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT, which will be held in the surroundings of Lake Palic. This is the location that has inspired many authors for the last fourteen years to the successful scientific and expert work, as well as agreeable rest, leisure and keeping company. This traditional scientific Meeting increasingly gathers competent participants from our country and abroad, especially from universities and faculties with which our Faculty has a developed and diversified scientific cooperation.

The theme of the Meeting:

LEARNING, INNOVATION AND ORGANIZATION GROWTH
IN THE CONTEXT OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

An organization’s ability to achieve its strategic goals, first, depends on the capability of the organization to learn and evolve. Innovation, as well as product, service and process improvements can be achieved by an individual’s advanced knowledge and skills, superior information technology and managed processes of the organization. The aims defined in learning and developments are the infrastructures and initiators of success, development and growth. Because of this, in order to achieve its aims of growth and development, the organization must invest in employees, systems and procedures. There are four main categories in the context of learning and development perspective: (a) power of the employees, (b) research and development, (c) motivation and joint efforts and (d) effectiveness of the information system and communication technology.

Every business activity in any organization consists of a range of processes, and all of them have the final goal of creating value for the customer and achieving profit for the organization, in order to grow and develop, to revive the organization in the long term in the context of strategic management. Operation processes create value in the short term, as they begin with the customer’s needs and end with the delivery of goods and/or services. The process in which new or latent customer needs are investigated, and thereafter products and services are created to meet those needs is the process of innovation. Because of this, innovation is one of the most important internal processes of the organization, and takes place in the second wave of value creation. Today organizations have competitive advantages in the market because of innovative products and services, and these processes are an important part of the value chain. Success is measured by the strategic goals of the organization, and measures taken for their realization. Therefore, efficiency measurement in organizations is more and more related to the efficiency and effectiveness of learning, innovation, research and development processes.

Hoping that you will give significant contribution to the scientific and expert contents and the social programs by your participation, we cordially invite and expect you to exchange our experience and knowledge, as well as to keep and enjoy company with all other participants.
